About Us

The Heartland Faithful Walk to Emmaus has it's origins in the Nebraska Walk to Emmaus community. The Nebraska Walk to Emmaus was founded in 1983 to grow the Christian faith in the state of Nebraska. On the Nebraska community's 25th anniversary, they “gave birth“ to the Heartland Faithful community.

The Heartland Faithful community primarily serves the Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa geographical areas, but the community has no true boundaries. Fourth Day members of the Heartland area continue to serve and support the Nebraska community, in the same way that Nebraska Fourth Day members join in Heartland Faithful Walks.

Heartland Faithful began as an idea, a way to grow the Emmaus community in Nebraska. In 2006, a steering committee was formed to begin the formal process of establishing the organization, getting IRS 501(c)3 approval, finding a location that would prevent any flavor of this being an “Omaha“ community, and gaining support from the area Fourth Day. As with any new organization, funding was a constant concern and could have been the factor that prevented us from becoming a reality had it not been for our parent community. At the critical point, the Nebraska community stepped up and provided us not only with a substantial cash gift, but also with books and supplies, and even a trailer to transport them to the Walk site. With constant prayer and support from across the state, and with blessings from God, the Heartland Faithful Community became a reality with their first set of Men's and Women's Walks in May of 2008.

After months of prayer and guidance from the Holy Spirit, these Walks were blessed with 19 men and 20 women. The International Board sent representatives to observe, and in their subsequent reports, confirmed that we were indeed ready to become a Walk to Emmaus Community.

Since that time, we have continued to grow in attendance at Gatherings and in Fourth Day Group Reunions. We strive to keep our focus on our daily Walk with Jesus Christ and trust our Lord to handle the details of the Weekends. We encourage any Fourth Day members to contact us and join in our celebration of the Work of our Lord.
